Abstract

Dunia kerja membutuhkan karyawan yang lebih siap di bidang STEM dan Sumber Daya Manusia (SDM) yang lebih melek STEM, salah satu faktor penyebab mengapa pendidikan STEM mendapat perhatian yang semakin meningkat. Penelitian eksperimen dengan menggunakan one Group Pretest Posttest Design, Peserta penelitian merupakan siswa kelas 8 SMP unggulan yang berada di Kota Makassar, Sulawesi Selatan. Siswa (N = 94), Laki-laki (L=47), perempuan (P= 47). Tujuan dari penelitian untuk mengamati efektivitas peran STEM-PBL pada pembelajaran matematika dalam meningkatkan kemampuan ranah kognitif dan afektif siswa di tingkat sekolah menengah pertama. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran matematika efektif melalui penerapan STEM-PBL pada siswa kelas VIII SMP yang ditinjau dari hasil pemecahan matematika siswa dan aktivitas siswa selama proses pembelajaran. Peran STEM-PBL mampu meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa. Temuan dalam penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa selama penerapan STEM-PBL, siswa menunjukkan keterlibatan ranah afektif seperti attitude, emotion, self-acknowledgement dan beliefs. Self-Acknowledgement memegang peranan penting dalam meningkatkan pembelajaran STEM PBL.
